Hauptaufgaben

Assists in the preliminary examination of patients prior to their evaluation by the Optometrist by performing a variety of screening and technical procedures such as measuring and recording visual acuity, neutralizing spectacle and / or contact lenses, measuring color vision, stereovision, autorefraction, refraction, optical fabrication, autokeratometry and intraocular pressure determinations via non-contact and applanation tonometry as required. Records results in electronic medical records. Interviews each patient eliciting a limited general medical and eye history and reviews medical records for additional history required for the vision evaluation. Triages patient complaints, directing urgent or emergent cases to the Optometrist's attention. Assists patients in their selection of spectacle frames. This includes selection of an appropriate size and style, and color of frame followed by accurate determination of interpupillary distance and segment heights if required. Prepares and sends spectacle orders to the optical fabrication for manufacture. Independently fabricates spectacles, including fabrication of lenses to the ophthalmic prescription specifications, on an as needed basis. Verifies the accuracy of spectacles via a visual inspection, lensometer, and lens gauge. After inspection, prepares spectacles for delivery to each patient via mail or telephonic notification. Shapes spectacle frames to fit the contours of the patients face and head; makes repairs to eye wear using new replacement parts. Must speak English fluently for interaction with patients and staff. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifikationsanforderungen

Applicants must possess a ROKG issued or recognized license or certification related to the specialty or occupation.
